Beast Master
Work In Progress
Beast Master (or BM when shortened) is the trainer for pets created by the
Bio Engineer (BE). Beast Master allows your pet to learn special skills in order to become more effective in combat, heals your pet and allows it to gain loyalty levels (which also increase their combat effectiveness). Beast Masters can have several pets, but can only call out one at the time. This opposed to Creature Handler (CH), who can have three pets out at the same time.
The pets engineered by the
Bio Engineer come in the form of eggs and as such must be hatched first. This requires at least one point in Beast Mastery (Novice Beast Master). It is, however, adviced to spent more points here.
To the left of the Novice Beast Master box is the path that teaches you how to heal your beast and keep it performing in combat. To the right side there are abilities that will allow your beast to perform more skills, how to keep it happy and how to gain knowledge about wild beasts and the skills they posses. This last ability also has the option to learn those skills and the Beast Master can then teach them to their beast.
Points can be spent as the descriptions indicate. A general rule of thumb for the combat classes would be to at least get the first box of healing, soothing comfort and unlock at least one, but preferably more, extra skill box(es).
Leveling your beast is done by having it fight; this can be wild creatures or mobs. By fighting, the beast will gain a certain amount of XP and as is with all gained XP, it is determined based on level; a grossly overleveled beast will not gain any XP from low-level mobs. If the color of the mob is grey, the beast gain no XP from it. In order to get the most XP from a fight, a supplement can be used and the beast should be in at least a happy state.
Each beast has it's own preferences. It might enjoy, or intensely dislike, being on a certain planet. It might also really enjoy fighting and defeating humanoid mobs, or intensely dislike being in a group. There is no way in telling what a beast might like or dislike before hatching and finding out.
Beasts can be traded from the datapad to other players. This presents the option to first fully train the beast and find out what they like, before it is traded. The recipient, however, is still required to spent at least one point in BM in order to call the beast.
As Beast Mastery is an auxillary profession, it can be picked up by anyone. It will, none-the-less, require points to be effective with.
