Welcome to
SWG Evolve. If you are just starting out, you might be wondering where to begin in a game with as much freedom as Star Wars Galaxies. This guide will help point you in the right direction so you can start enjoying the sandbox experience right away.
First Things First: Read the Evolve Wiki
If you have played Star Wars Galaxies on another server before, take some time to read the
Evolve Wiki, especially the sections on:
Exclusive Features and QOL updates
Over the years Evolve has implemented many improvements suggested directly by players. These changes were designed to create the gameplay experience the community always wanted from SWG while keeping the core sandbox feeling intact.
Even veteran SWG players will notice that many systems have been improved or expanded.
New to Star Wars Galaxies?
If you have never played Star Wars Galaxies before, welcome to one of the most unique sandbox MMOs ever made.
A great place to begin is the
Legacy Quest. Thanks to Evolve's Quality of Life improvements to experience gain, you will level much faster than players did on the original live servers. The Legacy Quest will guide you through several
Planets while teaching you the basics of combat and exploration.
Experiment With Character Templates
After you start leveling, take some time to explore the
Guides forum where players share character templates and builds.
You can follow an existing template that can be found in our guides section or experiment with your own. Because of the work that has gone into Evolve's expertise system, nearly every template you can design is viable to play. This allows you to create a character that fits your personal playstyle rather than being forced into a strict meta.
Get Social and Join Events
Star Wars Galaxies was designed as a
social MMO, and the experience becomes much better when you play with others.
One of the best ways to connect with the community is by joining the
Evolve Discord. There you can:
- Meet other players
- Find groups
- See when events are happening
- Ask questions and get help
Evolve also has one of the most active
Events Teams, running special events almost daily for players to participate in.
Start Earning Credits
Credits will help you purchase gear, houses, and other
Items from other players.
Some great ways to earn money early include:
- Participating in World Boss runs
- Running Instances that reward around 100,000 credits
- Solo content on Mustafar
Many
Instances can be completed with a group, and some Mustafar content can even be done solo.
Get Your First Armor Set
A great early goal is completing the
Katarn Armor quest line.
This quest line is easy to complete and rewards you with a solid starter armor set that will help you survive tougher encounters while you continue progressing through the game.
Buy a House for Storage
Once you have some credits saved up, consider purchasing a
house.
Housing allows you to:
- Store Items
- Decorate your Space
- Set up vendors later if you get into crafting
You can usually find player-crafted
Structures on the
Bazaar at very affordable prices.
Explore the Galaxy
Star Wars Galaxies is a game built around
exploration and adventure.
The amount of content available is enormous. Even players who have been playing for over 20 years still discover new things they never knew existed.
Take your time, explore different
Planets, try new builds, meet other players, and most importantly enjoy the sandbox.
